What exactly does a ZIPPER smart plug do?

ZIPPER replaces the original fuel tank cap and detects every opening and closing. It only opens when the refueling nozzle is inserted and closes automatically when it is removed, ensuring the tank is never left open by mistake and the cap is never lost. Each event is communicated to a receiver installed in the cabin or to the vehicle's telematics system, allowing for the tracking of when and where the tank was opened.

Do I need to change my GPS or telemetry system?

No. Genesis IoT products are designed to integrate with the third-party telemetry, management, and security systems that the fleet already has installed. The manufacturer's approach is to leverage what is already in the vehicle rather than forcing its replacement.

What is the difference between the wired and wireless ZIPPER?

The wired ZIPPER connects to the vehicle's onboard electronics via a two-wire cable between the tank and the cabin, and any cutting or tampering with that cable can be identified. The wireless version contains a coded, battery-protected micro-transmitter and communicates via radio, which avoids running cables through the vehicle. The important difference when ordering is that every wireless ZIPPER mandatorily requires a receiver unit in the cabin, whereas the wired version does not.

How accurately does the FUEL CONTROLLER measure?

The FCS sensor is capacitive, with a 10-bit resolution equivalent to 1024 points, and measures the entire length of the sensor with no dead zones, unlike the original sensors. It measures the main tank, the secondary tank, and the sum of both in liters, and compensates for the temperature and inclination of each tank to account for level variations. It is installed in Plug and Play mode by replacing the original sensor, without modifying the tank and in a reversible manner.

Does the system send an alert if someone steals fuel?

The system allows for detection through two complementary channels. The ZIPPER cap notifies every opening of the tank, including those that occur outside of a scheduled refueling. The FUEL CONTROLLER records the level in liters in real time, so that a drop in level without an associated refueling is reflected in the data, further cross-referenced with the kilometers traveled and the time.
